Abstract
Second homes, both in traditional form - chalets and cottages, and in relatively new form - vacation apartment homes, holiday villages, is an important part of domestic tourism. It meets the demand especially of domestic clients in the short term, but also long-term tourism.
Second home represents a specific type of accommodation, which have significant seasonal usage and their spatial distribution is significantly differentiated not only on the basis of their form. This is related to their position, as competition for commercial accommodation facilities.
The paper presents the reflection on the current situation in Czechia and offers possible alternatives for further development.
