Czech interferences in Franz Kafka's German?

Publication at Faculty of Arts |
2013

Abstract

The article provides a contact linguistic investigation of Franz Kafka's prose German gathering evidence for Czech interferences related to the long-term German-Czech language contact in Prague. Part of the discovered bohemisms are among others variations in the use of prepositions 'an' and 'auf' as well as parallels to Czech vocabulary and phraseology.
