In the last decades, big attention has been devoted to quality of teachers' performance. Teaching profession has been increasingly demanding.
The paper seeks answer to the question how do Czech teachers comply with the requirements regarded as important in the international community. To which extent the instruction supports active participation, teamwork, problem solving and application of acquired skills in everyday context? To which extent is the instruction individualized? How do Czech teachers co-operate with each other? How much they participate in professional development? The data from international comparative surveys carried out in the Czech Republic in last 15 years are used to answer the questions.
