The article performs a comparison of the origins, evolution and the descent of slippers sewing in the former German-populated town of Rychnov u Jablonce nad Nisou (Reichenau) and the Czech area of Vysoké nad Jizerou and surrounding villages. The phenomenon of slippers in local folklore is mentioned.
On the basis of the field research a reconstruction has been made of the fate of local slippermakers in the second half of the 20th century.
