In this monograph, the authors attempt to provide a comprehensive view of orthopedic tuberculosis (the OTB) starting from distant past to the present time. It is not only a medical message but from the historical point of view it also could provide the interesting contribution for the general public because it shows this infectious disease affecting thousands of years the whole world - in the rich (also historical) pictorial documentation.
The name "Atlas of orthopedic tuberculosis," by authors reflects sorting into chapters by major localizations - tuberculosis of the spine, hip and knee joints, as well as other relatively rare and by the percentage less frequent localizations and also include various types of mycobacteriosis. In the authors' previous publications - Orthopedic tuberculosis (Triton 2002) and Extrapulmonary tuberculosis (Grada Publishing 2004), according to the authors the text page in all chapters was quite comprehensive therefore here they, by intent minimize the text and put emphasis on individual multiple images.
The authors in more than 200 puictures collected the illustrative view of the OTB including the development of therapy from ancient history to the present day. Some of the images were taken from the publication of Orthopedic tuberculosis and Extrapulmonary tuberculosis (written by one of the authors, with agreement of Triton and Grada Publishing).
