Abstract

Blessings of Lahij are introduced for the first time and complemented with their Azeri functional equivalents within their appropriate situational context. From ethno-psychological point of view these traditional formulas contain some core life values both of Lahijan and Azerbaijani people.

Comparison of patterns of thought with other cultures reveals the anticipated polarization between the Eastern and Western ways.On one hand, similar underlying purpose and practical usage point to the common root in the beliefs of Tat and Azerbaijani people. On the other hand the complete rendering ,without the omission of addressing Xudo or Allah(God), leads to conclusion that the blessings in Tat ,i.e. historically relict Southwest Iranian language, which is a predecessor of neo-Persian are likely to be acknowledged as the older layer of the two
