Czech CRC screening program and its possible impacts of population

Publication

Abstract

National CRC screening program in the Czech Republic was launched in 2000 and since then passes through continuous development with the aim of increase the effective coverage of the target population. Recent epidemiological data indicate that there is a slight decrease in mortality from this disease, and are increasingly being diagnosed earlier forms of colorectal cancer.

The total coverage of the target population with screening methods (FIT, colonoscopy) is gradually increasing, in 2011 totaled 25.0%. Despite this increase is still insufficient coverage of the target population.

According to the European Recommendation should be a total coverage at least of 45%. One of the ways to achieve recommended levels of total population coverage is the identification and inviting target population.
