Abstract
Capsule colonoscopy is a minimally invasive method of examination of the colon, which may increase the adherence of the population for colorectal cancer screening. In the Czech Republic there was a multicenter (ÚVN Prague, IKEM Prague, GEP Prague, University Hospital in Hradec Kralove), prospective, cross over study evaluated the efficacy of a new generation of colonic capsule and colonoscopy in the detection of polyps and colon cancer in screening population.
The main aim was to evaluate the possibility of using capsules in National colorectal cancer screening program. There was demonstrated comparable sensitivity in the detection of colorectal neoplasia by colonic capsule in comparison with optical colonoscopy.
