This publication describes reading comprehension in various perspectives. In the first part it indicates foundations of the GAČR research project "Reading Comprehension - Typical Development and its Risks".
The second part is based on bibliographical sources related to this topic, both international and Czech. During the research process, mainly those sources referring to the issue of comprehension and planned quantitative methodology of the research were sought for.
Upon the abstract process completion, a critical analysis with proposals for the research focus followed. The methodology part introduces readers to the foundations, objectives, and methodological procedures of the study.
Procedures which became part of the T1 and T2 sets of tests are presented. Special attention was paid to a description of diagnostic tools, corresponding to foreign approaches as well as good experience with some of our approaches assessing readers skills.
Newly created comprehension tests (reading with understanding, silent reading, listening with understanding), and language skill tests are also depicted. The last chapter contains other planned procedures applicable to research data processing.
The set of tests T1 (October-December 2013) and T2 (March-May 2014), and statistics of some used tests in T1 are published in the appendix.
