Abstrakt
Review of a book about history of Egyptology from World War I to the Third Reich. In spite of its English title the book contains also two contributions in German dealing on the one hand with the egyptologist Friedrich Wilhelm Freiherr v.Bissing and his political activities during World War I, and on the other hand giving an overview of German egyptologists and their political attitude during the Third Reich.
The starting point of this overview is a letter written by Steindorff to J. Wilson in June 1945 and published here as facsimile.
