This paper is a review of the long-short story Větrník [The Windmill] (1923) by Karel Matěj Čapek Chod. This long-short story has some features, which were a novelty in the Czech literature of the 1920's.
The storyline of The Windmill is less important than the author's ironical comments on contemporary literature and criticism. This long-short story actually ironises the process of writing itself.
