Publication at Faculty of Science |
2014

Abstract

Snow represents an important part of hydrological cycle. Major factors affecting snow distribution are described in the first part of the paper.

Second part describes the energy balance of the snowpack and basic methods used for snow measurements. In the third part, we provide description of hydrology of snow and ice covered basins in different European climate regions.

Two major mechanisms causing the snowmelt runoff are discussed in the last part of this paper.
