Abstract
Several military and police officers were sentenced to serve life-term in the spring of 2011. The officers took part in politically motivated violence, kidnappings and torture of the opponents of the military junta, that reigned in the country between 1976-1983.
Also the last dictator, R. Bignone, under whose reign Argentina transited from dictatorship to democracy, was sentenced.
Further sentences followed in the fall for yet another dozen of officers, including Alfredo Astiz, infamously known as the "blond angel of death." Is Argentina settling the injustice from the "Dirty War"? How can a society deal with terrifying practices of the military junta? Also the memories of Danish nurse who treated Chilean and Argentinian refugees in Denmark from the trauma they suffered during the political torture.
