After nearly 40 years the Symposium returns back to the Czech Republic: the 6th Symposium was held in Prague in 1976, thanks to the organizational activity of Prof. Jan Lellák.
Like the previous Symposia, the current meeting is a forum for chironomid specialists to present the results of their contemporary research including a wide range of topics from biology and ecology to various aspects of applied disciplines. The contributions to be presented have the ambition to help to look on Chironomidae in a wider perspective , which recognises them as a model group for solving various ecological and biological problems, and which is interesting to a more general audience.
