In the year 1914 the Slovene lecturer ship was established at the Faculty of Arts of the Charles University in Prague. Slovenian-Czech relations were very intensive and rich from the 19th century.
The beginning of the lecturership represented a milestone in relations, it made the option of learning the Slovenian language available to Czech society and it reflected the context in Slovene-Czech relations. The first lecturer of Slovene language was Jožef Skrbinšek (1878-1938), who did everything until the year 1936.
In 1920 Faculty of Arts in Prague hired the Slovene professor Matija Murko (1861-1952). We look at the development od Slovene studies at Charles University till the 21 century.
