Carbon nitride vs. graphene - now in 2D!

Abstract

Graphene has yet to deliver on its promise as a candidate for post-silicon electronics because it lacks an electronic band gap. A polymer laboratory might not be your first port-of-call for replacement materials for silicon in sensors and transistors, but polymer chemistry and organic synthesis may have much to offer here.

In particular, modular chemical design - a key-strength of organic and polymer chemistry - can be used as a tool for the rational design of new 2-dimensional materials
