Search for the axis of the point clouds is part of the important task in the complicated process of surface reconstruction from point clouds. We deal with the searching of axial symmetry of special cases of point clouds which represent helical surfaces.
We introduce a new iterative algorithm which result is the estimation of axis of helical surfaces and show memory saving representation of the described real object. Synthetically generated point clouds are used for testing the correctness of procedures.
The algorithms are implemented in the modern programming language and interactive environment of MATLAB.
