In chemistry education, a "real experiment" can be considered as one of the most important part of the educational process. "The real experiment" provides, comparing to other ways of education, many advantages, especially motivation and/or gain of useful habits for experimental work in chemical laboratory. Nevertheless, sometimes, it is not possible to use the "real experiment", for example, in the cases that the used chemicals are toxic or dangerous or just expensive.
In some cases, the video-experiment can be used as a guide for realization of real experiment, because, it can be more illustrative than a typical worksheet. Hence, the video experiments should be used in education as alternative for "real experiments" and can be employed in chemistry lessons as well as in preparation of teachers.
That is a reason for creation of database of video-experiments in the framework of www.studiumchemie.cz webpage. The database contains more than 150 entries (experiments, usually more than one in one experiment entry).
The experiments were selected with respect to requirements of RVP-G, especially with respect to cover majority of themes defined by this document. This contribution is focused on concept and description of the database and some aspects of its extension and on opinions of teachers on the database, especially with respect to the content of the database.
The teachers evaluated the database positively and expressed opinion that database could be useful for them in everyday teaching practice. They also contributed to improvement of database by their suggestions and remarks.
The database is also the most visited part of the web www.studiumchemie.cz, which supports the positive attitudes of teachers.
