The chapter deals with life and especially professional carrier of František Borový (1874-1936) and shows that a business trajectory of entrepreneurs in interwar Czechoslovakia was not always fully successful or ascendant but often slowed or cut short in consequence of economic problems and personal failures. The Prague publisher František Borový, who started his business already before the WWI, earned a very good reputation within the cultural circles of the First Republic.
Despite this reputation the activities of his company were seriously hampered in 1923 due to excessive debt and František Borový was forced to sell his company. Although he lost his position as an owner, he stayed in the publishing house to 1930 as a manager.
