Abstract
This paper will describe the situation in the Czech Republic regarding deinstitutionalization of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities and in particular the move towards a personal budget system. The paper draws on a review of policy and reflections on the current situation ofpeople with intellectual disabilities in the Czech Republic and the evaluation of a recent EU funded programme on deinstitutionalization.
