The published studies show a relation between the region (eg. rural versus big city) and performances in some neuropsychological tests. Our goal is to determine whether the different performances of older persons in standard cognitive screening tests, depending on the region in the Czech Republic.
We matched 96 people living in the capital city of Prague with persons outside of Prague from the sample (N=540) of healthy older adults (age 60 and over), according to sex, age and education. Then we compared the results of two screening tests - Montreal Cognitive Assessment (MoCA) and Mini Mental State Examination (MMSE).
We used linear model, which included one factor and 3 covariates. We found no difference in either MoCA (p = 0,162) or MMSE (p = 0,846).
This study confirms that in the case of a balanced representation of persons in the categories of gender, age and education there is no difference in cognitive performance in two screening tests between Prague and other regions. This study is the first part of a detailed analysis of connection of the size of the agglomeration and performance in cognitive tests in older adults.
