On the background of more fundamental question, whether Christian practice brings about some distinctive features to professionalism, the article focuses on interpretation of selected text of Soren Kierkegaard that could be relevant to his concept of work. Its aim is to consider some methodological issues related to the question, whether any distinctive features in his concept of work could enrich the usual concepts of professionalism.
A distinction is being made between the concept of work that would come from broadly understood Christendom, and that which might be expected from Kierkegaard's individual Christian. To overcome a range of difficulties with interpreting Kierkegaard's text, inspiration is being drawn from Paul Ricoeur's hermeneutic phenomenology.
