Authorial Phraseology:Karel Čapek and Bohumil Hrabal

Publication at Faculty of Arts |
2014

Abstract

In this article, we will concentrate on a comparison of phraseology of two famous Czech writers, Čapek and Hrabal. The authors' corpora that are tagged phraseologically provide us with an outstanding phraseological data and enable a comparative researcher of a more or less entire phraseology of both writers.

For this comparison, verbal phrasemes have been chosen which contain words mít (to have), dát (to give), and nominal and verbal phrasemes with components ruka (hand), hlava (head), oko (eye). It was also possible to compare the frequency of phrasemes in both authors' corpora with a general corpus of contemporary written texts SYN2010.
