"The Battle of the Symbols of the University" and the contemporary concepts of nationalism on the pages of the magazine Přítomnost

Abstract
The study deals with the reflection of "The Battle of the Symbols of the University" on the pages of the magazine Přítomnost. It analyses the attitude of the magazine to nationalism in the Czechoslovak society in the first half of 1930s.
The paper is based on the study of characteristic selection of magazine articles and archival sources describing the events. The aim of the study is to bring a complex view of the magazine Přítomnost on the students, the nationalism, the relationship between Czechs and Germans and the "The Battle of the Symbols of the University" in scrutinized era, which is defined by the Adolf Hitler's commencement as its beginning and by the Czechoslovak parliamentary elections in 1935 as the end of the era.
