Abstract

The first part of the chapter discusses philosophical, historical and aesthetic aspects of the US ghost towns and their representations in diverse literary genres. The second part focuses on Cormac MacCarthy's novel The Blood Meridian (1985) and its central reflection of the Anasazi ruins as a ghost town in the context of American ideologies.
