This paper focuses on the phenomenon of the so called "long Middle Ages" in the Czech literature of the 17th century. The topic is dicussed on a Chrismas hymn with the marian motifs which is known in three language version (Latin, Czech and German) from the Czech area fo the half of the 17th century.
The different extent of the medieval elements in all the three versions is shown. The existing concepts of the Czech baroque studies (especially Z.
Kalista's concept of the CZech baroque Gothic, the V. Černý's concept) are discussed also, which tryed to interpret the phenomenom of the long Midlle Ages in the Czech baroque literature and their benefits for the Czech baroque studies and their limits are shown.
