The author presents the history of the standardization of Romani in the Czech Republic and Slovakia, two countries which, from the point of view of Romani and its standardization, still represent a homogeneous area. The differences between the standardization of Romani language and Romani orthography are also considered.
The very concept of standardization is demonstrated in several meanings within the framework of which the author then asks to what extent Romani and its orthography have been standardized in the area mentioned.
