Fabrication of "white" LEDs and related experiments: Photo- and electro-luminescence as basis of the current lighting revolution

Abstract

Several experiments for physics teachers are motivated by the advent of the LED lighting revolution. They demonstrate how a single colour LED can produce quasi-white light when combined with phosphors.
