Abstract

Suggestions to improve the economic and social situation in the glass industry in the Jablonec nad Nisou and Železný Brod region between the years 1918-1938 are the base of article. Effort for change the economic and social conditions in the interwar glassmaking in these regions occurs not only in the glass organizations, but also in individuals.

One of the comprehensive plans to changing the situation in the glass industry in the Jablonec nad Nisou and Železný Brod region come, for example, from the pen of the engraver Josef Čepelík of Tatobity. It should be emphasized that proposals were largely unrealizable due to the notion that the state can oversee everything and to promote fairly the interests of all the components of glass production.

Most of the changes would also after implementation has not led to a significant improvement of the situation in the glassmaking in the monitored regions. The value of proposals does not lie in their reform effort, but in the fact, that they point to the contemporary problems in the glassmaking, to the way their perception on the part of workers and employers and to the effort to deal with them.
