UV-photochemical Cold Mercury Vapor Generation as a Derivatization Step Between HPLC Separation and AAS Detection for Speciation Analysis of Selected Mercury Compounds

Publication

Abstract

The aim of the presented work was the development of an analytical method for ultra-trace determination of several mercury compounds in ground water samples. Separation of a mixture of selected mercury compounds was realized by high performance liquid chromatography on reverse phases [RP-HPLC].

Consequently, UV-photochemical cold mercury vapor generation [UV-CVG] was used as a derivatization step between RP-HPLC and atomic absorption spectrometry with quartz detection tube [QT-AAS].
