Abstract
Proverb tests are indicators of conceptual dysfunction in formal thought disorders. Comprehensive Proverb test is not available in our country.
The arrangement of the Czech proverb test was inspired by similar foreign tests. The newly developed Proverb test is aimed at the assessment of the quality of conceptualization and reasoning process.
The test is made up of three subtests with increasing difficulty. It demands the transference of a concrete statement into abstract metaphorical meaning.
Futher test development will require trials in larger sample of healthy subjects and patients with various psychiatric diagnoses.
