ACTA and other newer acronyms in Polish, Slovak in Slovenian languages

Publication at Faculty of Arts |
2013

Abstract

As indicated by the title, the subjects of the article are the modern acronyms that appear in Polish, Slovak and Slovene languages. The basis of the article is the acronym ACTA, between 2011 and 2012 probably the most invoked acronym not only in the above mentioned, but also in other languages, because beneath it hides the controversial international agreement that has united European societies, who have protested against its signing.

The author shows the ways of adapting acronyms by the languages of interest, and presents how those languages generally cope with modern acronyms.
