The authors describe several students reasons for choosing teaching as a profession. Some of these reasons include a personal example of a teacher observed at teaching practice and also particularly the collaboration with a so called mentor.
This special pedagogical employee should possess a rich spectrum of competencies. Some of them, for example the evaluation based on criticism or praise, improve students self - confidence, but at the same time they imply the paradox in the behavior of the mentor.
Making the right choice s of behaviors can be rehearsed by the mentor during the course which is provided by the authors of this article. Having verified the proposed research, they designed the model of specializing continual education at the FHPV in Prešov.The authors also present particular research findings that arose from the research work of mentors with practicing students.
