Jan Patočka's works on art are rarely in scope of philosophers and if so, they are usually focused on Jan Patočka's writings from the 60s. In this article author deals problem of art and the aesthetic experience in Jan Patočka's work with a regard to his early writings from the 30s.
These essays have not got yet the attention that they deserve, even though it is there where are the topics of history and education related to art for the first time. This article is analyzing the relationship among art, history and education in Patočka's early essays.
In the first part of the article author explores Patočka's early conception of historicity and its inspiration in Heidegger's philosophy. Second part of the article shows not only the consequences of Patočka's conception of historicity in art, but its shortcomings as well.
Author argues that Patočka's concepts of art, history and education are in this period very vague. In effect Patočka's original approach remains only a sketch.
However, it is author's belief that better understanding to Patočka's early works and concepts can shed a light on his later works.
