Abstract

The article deals with musical compositions written in the Czech Lands during the sixteenth and early seventeenth centuries that were influenced by the fear of the expansion of the Ottoman Empire into Central Europe. The text overviews both monophonic and polyphonic repertoire from secular as well as sacred milieu and characterizes the common features.
