Abstract
The paper endeavours to illustrate the issues of scientific work in the conditions of the Czechoslovak military health service of the First Czechoslovak Republic. The Military Health Advisory Board and a professional journal titled Military Medical Science Letters played an important role in the establishment, gradual institutionalisation, and progress of the scientific work.
