Abstract
The article presents the edition of the fragment of commemorative text of former mayor of Poděbrady Spa Josef Caňkář (1889-1975). He had to spend the whole time of the World War II in concentration camp Sachsenhausen, where he met many of the imprisoned students.
The edition is supplemented with the biographical note on the author.
