In the ethnically mixed areas of the countries of the Czech Crown is from 2nd half of the 19th century began to show the tension and mutual intolerance between the German and Czech parts of the population and the ancient city of Jihlava was in this respect an exception. The positions of both of the warring parties is reflected in the "Jihlavske Listy", where representing the position of the representatives of the Czechs in Jihlava.
The present text aims to draw attention to the "ethnic dimension" of advertisements published in the journal in the years 1890-1938.
