Journal Štěpnice during the years of its existence (1946-1952) was reviewing and critically evaluating artistic production for children and youth at that time, in educational and pedagogical context. In my contribution, I analyze the role of Štěpnice to propaganda effort of Czechoslovak communist regime, more precisely, to the part of the effort which was focused on children and youth.
I also examine the role of Štěpnice as an eager critic of the "inconvenient" journal Vpřed, its role in systematizing of ideological education (propaganda) in schools and educational organizations and also its role as co-creator of discourse of ideological education of children and youth in a theory and in a common use of language.
