Kaška's work is an outstanding contribution to the history of Stalinist Czechoslovakia and to the development of more differentiated approaches to the Czech confrontation with the socialist dictatorship, which are currently taking place. The title of the book seems to deflect the previously dominant interpretation from the production of one of the two issuing institutions, which is Ústav pro studium totalitní režimu (Institute for the Study of Totalitarian Regimes).
The book is written very well and will certainly reach a wider public.
