The sixth part of the electronic script describes four types of immunopathological reactions by Coombs and Gell. The first is mediated by IgE antibodies and form the basis of allergic reactions.
The second type of immunopathological reaction is mediated by antibodies isotypes IgG and IgM, and is the basis of autoimmune reactions. Immune complex reactions, represent the third type of hypersensitivity and antigen-antibody complexes play here the major role.
A fourth type of immunopathological reaction is mediated by T lymphocytes, which control it and realize. There are also described the most common types of primary (congenital) and secondary (acquired) immune disorders - immunodeficiencies, their causes and consequences, as well as diagnosis and treatment, with particular emphasis on substitution therapy with immunoglobulins.
Conclusion of the chapter presents a description of the principles and examples of active and passive immunization.
