Abstract
Surgical treatment of colorectal cancer is the most important therapeutic modality. Radical resection of invasive tumours supplemented with radical lymphadenectomy is the basic requirement for successfully curing the disease and for long term survival.
The goal of palliative surgical treatment is to increase bowel pass-through and to increase the patients' quality of life, in cases of late stage, inoperable tumours.
