Abstrakt
Max Brod published more than one hundred articles from various fields of interest (literature, music, politics, philosophy or religion) in the Prague Zionistic weekly paper Selbstwehr (Self-Defence, 1907-1938). Gaëlle Vassogne made a list in her study titled Max Brod in Prag: Identität und Vermittlung (2009).
However, the list contains a notice that there are only the articles from the years 1916, 1918MINUS SIGN 1929 and 1931MINUS SIGN 1938 on the list. This happened because of a supposed incompleetenes of the periodical in the Prague Jewish Museum (Vassogne, p. 286).
The volumes which were supposed to be lost are - at least today - present in the Prague Jewish Museum as well as in the Czech National Library. Due to this fact, the lecture dealt with Brods beginnings in the Selbstwehr between 1907 and 1914.
Both the articles by Max Brod and the articles about him were used as a material for the lecture.
