This essay deals with poetic representations of death in the Spanish-American modernist poetry. Firstly, it introduces basic characteristics of the poetics of the above mentioned aesthetic movement and then it focuses on the analysis of some of the poems of the modernist poets coming from various Spanish-American countries.
It attempts to find the divergent and convergent points regarding the treatmente of the theme - these range from an optimistic vision of beauty to the pessimism of the "fin de siecle", and also submit a humoristic vision of the theme.
