Abstract

Non-steroidal anti-rheumatic drugs (NSA) have been used mainly due to their strong analgesic effect, especially in the treatment of acute pain as well as their antiphlogistic effect ion the gtreatment of chronic inflammatory pain. .In particular, long-term systemic administration of NSA may be associated with a number of serious side effects, which significantly limit NSA use in long term thyrapy. These include gastrointestinal side effects (gastric ulcers and their complications, etc.), cardiovascular (hypertension, progression of coronary artery disease) and renal (oedema, renal insufficiency, hypertension etc.The potential toxicity of NSA appears to be clinically significant, especially in the elderly population representing the majority of NSA consumers. The autors also focused separately on the potential toxicity of paracetamol.
