Abstract
It is well known fact that along with social progress, come also changes in the morbidity of the population. Many infectious and parasitic diseases, which previously devastated the population, are now almost eliminated.
So in the forefront of doctors, but also many scientists, are getting other diseases that depend on the lifestyle of each individual. One of them is diabetes mellitus.
This article will focus on basic assessment of morbidity due to diabetes mellitus in the Czech Republic. The development of the number of patients, as well as the current approach to the treatment of this disease will be commented in the following text.
The situation in Czech Republic according to complication of diabetes will be also discussed in presented paper.
