At the theoretical level this article is aimed at establishing and mutual defining of the terms mentoring and supervision as the concepts facilitating nurse professional education in the last decade. While mentoring has already been established in the Czech nursing context, the supervision concept is beginning to gradually gain ground and searches for the ways of its application in clinical practice.
In the article we will focus on the conceptualization of these terms and mainly on mutual defining of the mentoring concept and of (clinical) supervision in the nursing context, in which they have been used in nursing in abroad, as well as developed in the Czech Republic during the last decade of the third millennium. This article is based on the theoretic elaboration of the issue and integration of the thematically and contextually relevant knowledge, mainly from foreign texts.
We were searching those texts by means of electronic browsers accessible for the Charles University in Prague (for example ProQuest, The Pub Med, CINAHL).
