Creating declension tables - Six classes of declension for nouns and adjectives, or Czech declension of nouns and adjectives using booklets or dominos. The paper introduces a new perspective on the declension paradigms of Czech nouns and adjectives in the framework of declension tables.
The primary criteria to classify them are the common morphological features rather than gender. In the creation of the tables, it became apparent that there was a need to adjust the vertical sequence of the presentation of Czech declension paradigms to the Russian concept of the declension system, and also to some developmental patterns that are common to both languages.
Although the table was originally designed for a target group of Russian-speaking students, experience shows that implicitly accentuating certain parts of the language that emerged from contrasting the two Slavic languages can be useful for other foreign learners as well. The table includes six inter-related classes of declension.
Substantive and adjective declensions are connected in one unit. The table can be used as a whole, in the form of a picture booklet, or also as separate patterns, in the form of dominoes.
It opens the possibility of an illustrative integration of partial patterns, non-standard forms, mixed declensions and relics of older types of inflection in the system as a whole, as well as having a number of other uses for teachers. The presented approach aims to make the system of Czech declension more transparent and understandable for the target group.
