Teaching of Czech as a Foreign Language for Academic Purposes has become more important as the numbers of foreign students attending Czech universities has increased over the last decade. Its aims are to help foreign students to use language appropriately for study.
Academic writing at university level is a challenging and often the most demanding task for a lot of students. This paper reports on ongoing research into written academic genres produced by native and non-native speakers in order to specify the characteristic feature of academic language and identify students' difficulties with academic writing.
