An Early Roman Period inhumation burial from Prague-Nové Butovice

Abstract

In the course of rescue research of the Museum of the Capital City of Prague in the years 1986-1987 on polycultural location in Nové Butovice was uncovered inhumation burial of man from the Early Roman period. The skeleton of an adult laying stretched in the supine position in longitudinal grave pit with a stone cave, oriented towards his head to the East.

Burial equipment was located at the right hand of the individual and consisted of bronze Eye fibula type Almgren 45b and iron knife with a slight arched blade. Based on the analysis of findings can be dated back to the so-called classical (Czech) Eye fibula phase B1b, i.e. 20/30-50/70 AD.
